This past Friday, I celebrated my 24th birthday, but it seriously feels like I’ve been celebrating for a week and a half! From the cards that started coming in the Friday before my birthday (that I, of course, opened the minute I saw them- oops) to the “firthday” (fake + birthday = firthday) I quietly enjoyed on Thursday with a post-test nap, it feels like the whole month of August was dedicated to me. It all wrapped up this weekend, where my dad’s side of the family all gathered at the lake to remember Daddy– his birthday is 10 days after mine– and just enjoy a weekend together. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of tests, meetings, errands, training runs, and work, but I was constantly reminded that friends and family were thinking about me. I feel incredibly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday (with just a few teenie, tiny hiccups along the way). Here’s to 24 being the best year yet!
Travis got me a new Keurig after mine bit the dust at the beginning of summer. I only reminded him how much I missed hot coffee 2 or 3 times a day, so I have no idea how he knew I wanted a new Keurig. He’s a mind-reader.
After a special birthday dinner to Twist with Travis, we went to a party at a friend’s house, where the guys played pool and Caroline and I belted out this sweet jam. If loving 90s music is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
After asking for Tory Burch flats for, oh, 3 years, but never being able to commit to a style/color, I finally bit the bullet. The verdict? They are the best shoes ever! I’m in love.
When we pulled up to the lake house in Kentucky, it certainly felt…um..rural. This feeling was further confirmed by the fact that there were chickens running around everywhere. Also, true life: I was up before the rooster crowed on Monday.
Chicken and Waffles sounds great in theory, but just tastes like maple syrup potato chips in practice. Buddy the Elf would probably approve!
Some friendly competition to close out the summer lawn games.
Sweet, sweet family. [Apparently I was the only one who got the "sorority-squat" memo.]
Trav and I stopped in Knoxville to meet my mom at Starbucks since we were passing through, and they had Pumpkin Spice Lattes! Be still, my heart.
